PWA World to help operators transform global IoT networks
London, UK. 20 April 2017 – The most comprehensive, technology-agnostic Internet of Things (IoT) networks event, LPWA World, is set to take place in the UK next month with the main aim to help public and private operators make sense of the many different technology and deployment choices for IoT networks. With support from partners Wi-SUN Alliance, Weightless SIG, LoRA Alliance and GSMA, LPWA World will help operators capitalise on the opportunity IoT signifies through discussions on cellular and non-cellular solutions.
Taking place at the InterContinental O2 in London, UK from 23 –24 May 2017, LPWA World will help operators and end users navigate different technologies, such as LPWAN, LTE-M, NB-IoT and Sigfox, and develop a strategy to achieve tangible ROI on IoT network investments. Understanding the range of use cases and applications will also be high on the agenda, with presentations on applications covering a wide range of industry verticals such as transport, smart cities, utilities, healthcare and automotive.
Over the last twelve months there have been a growing number of proprietary networks, competing standards, and initiatives for cellular and non-cellular networks. On the opening day of the event, Syed Zaeem Hosain, Founder and CTO of Aeris Communications will discuss the technological and business considerations of a future LPWA player. Later, representatives from Telekom Austria and Etisalat Digital will join a panel to discuss the challenges and opportunities surrounding global LPWA live trials. On day two, there will be several regional-specific spotlights, including a focus on South America, Australia, Asia and the USA.
Speaking ahead of his participation on a panel session on meeting the demand for LPWA networks by quickly scaling networks in IoT hungry markets, Rudi Sunarno, Senior IoT Researcher at Telkom Indonesia commented: “From a telco perspective, telecoms operators are under pressure to grow IoT revenues faster, possibly through acquisitions or joint venture. Currently, revenue from IoT accounts for less than 1% of most operators’ total revenue. Telkom Indonesia argues for increasing IoT revenue by accelerating the provision of extensive network connectivity, implementing low cost and wide IoT coverage.”
Other speakers on this year’s agenda include representation from BT Group, Globetouch, Tele2, Swisscom AG, Telefónica Chile, Arqiva and analysts from ABI Research and Analysys Mason.
David Sackheim, Marketing Manager at Avren Events, said: “LPWAN is THE hot topic of 2017, and we have several speakers joining the agenda to share their experiences of the many commercial pilots that have already taken place or are scheduled for this year all over the world. We are also excited to be launching the first Stadium IoT and Connectivity focus day to bring large scale venues and technology solutions together to help prepare for tomorrow’s needs and capabilities, including IoT connectivity options for location-based services and security.”
LPWA World will be co-located with SCWS World. For more information, or to register, visit the LPWA World website here.
