Pop-Up Playland’s patent pending design is a fun way to play outside the cage.
Rockville, MD — Mar 06, 2014 / (http://www.myprgenie.com) — It’s not a pop-up book… it’s not a stand-alone small animal habitat… it’s Pop-Up Playland! New on Kickstarter is the Pop-Up Playland campaign created by Shawn Kessler and his daughter, Olivia. The product was designed because they wanted another way to play with their hamster outside of its cage. They also wanted to enrich the quality of life for the hamster by providing fun, new elements to play on. Pop-Up Playland is a clever new take on a small pet enclosure that better allows you to interact with the animals in a fun, creative way. At first glance the Pop-Up Playland unit looks like an oversized book, complete with a cute illustration of a hamster, gerbil, mouse and lizard playing in an urban playground setting. But when it’s opened, the small playground elements you see on the front cover pop up in a 28″ by 21″ enclosure with raised walls to keep the pet safe and secure while playing. Suitable for a wide variety of small critters, Pop-up Playland includes pop-up elements with ladders, slides, tunnels and even a functional seesaw to play on!
“I went into this thinking it was a fun, creative side project that Olivia and I could work on together,” Shawn recalled. “With each step forward, the feedback was overwhelmingly positive. It made me realize Pop-Up Playland was more than just a fun and creative side project; it had the potential to be an actual commercial product for the small animal owner community. I’m so happy that Kickstarter has provided me an outlet to continue on this path.”
Kickstarter is an all-or-nothing crowdfunding website where you can create a campaign page to help fund creative ideas. People who choose to fund projects, called “backers,” are incentivized through a reward schedule. Often these rewards consist of the final product the creator plans to make, if they can successfully hit their target funding goal. For funding Pop-Up Playland, backers will receive tiered rewards, ranging from stickers to a premium first run-edition of the playpen, and even the opportunity to name one of the company’s cartoon animal mascots.
