Work is a Breeze for our Newest Addition… “The Harbor Wind Project”
CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS – Revolution Energy, LLC. and the Port of Corpus Christi are proud to celebrate the official opening of the first phase of the “Harbor Wind Energy Farm.” The event will be held on Monday, March 12 at 3:30 p.m., at the Harbor Wind Farm located at 3918 Joe Fulton Corridor.
The project was developed on the North side of Port Corpus Christi Inner Harbor. Revolution Energy’s Harbor Wind Farm is known to be one of the first wind energy farms located on industrial port property in North America. “The Port is honored have Revolution Energy, LLC as one of its tenants. This project marks a step forward towards the Port’s support to the future of clean energy; positioning the port as one of America’s Wind Energy Ports leaders.” said Mike Carrell, Chairman, Port Corpus Christi Commission.
Revolution Energy, LLC, began developing the Harbor Wind Project in 2006. The project scheduled to begin operations early 2012, began transmitting power to the grid last month. The construction of the project created the following impact to the area’s economy:
- A total of six wind turbines installed
- Total cost of $20 Million
- Over $7 Million for local economy for construction related activity
- 6 months construction period
The Harbor Wind farm is generating 30,000,000kWh/year of clean energy, equal to the electricity needs of nearly 2,500 homes. “The Port has been very supportive of this project from the very beginning. Our wind project is another sign of the diversification of energy supply at the Port and the local community,” said Tibor Hegedus, General Manager, Revolution Energy.
