FourChords, The Ultimate Guitar Karaoke, Empowers Amateur Guitarists

HELSINKI, Finland, 27th April 2012

FourChords enables playing songs on a guitar using only a few simple chords

FourChords, a new music application for amateur guitarists, enters the Finnish AppStore, to be available in more markets soon. The application enables playing songs on a guitar using only a few simple chords. The chords and lyrics are shown to the rhythm in an easy-to-follow karaoke style and the song’s melody can be played in the background. Every song is simplified by professional arrangers for a quality experience.

Learning to play real songs on the guitar usually takes a lot of practice but not everybody has the time or the ambition to learn.  Makers of FourChords discovered that most songs can be simplified down to a few easy open chords that help catch the idea and the feeling of songs with minimal practice. That way any amateur guitarist can enjoy playing their favorite songs without dreary and time-consuming practice.

“We want everyone to experience the joy of playing their favorite hits with friends on a guitar, regardless of your skill or circumstances” comments Topi Löppönen, founder and CEO of Musopia, the maker of FourChords.  “Playing the guitar should be fun and we found a way to make it easy too: a few simple chords really is all you need to play your favorite song”.

FourChords’ library includes 60+ timeless guitar classics  and many children songs with more songs in different genres being added every week. The application is free to download and is currently available for the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad devices. The application features easy-to-use recording functionalities for both audio and video, and enables users to share their recordings to various social networks.

Aimed at amateur and aspiring guitarists, FourChords does not use notations or difficult tabs because those only help skilled guitarists and are hard to find using a mobile device. For ad hoc needs and amateur players, simplified versions easily found via mobile apps are far more useful. Being mobile means FourChords acts as a music tutorial always available at the user’s fingertips.

FourChords is not a game. It’s about real music and real guitars: the experience of playing real instruments and receiving live applause from your audience far outweigh plastic guitars and points in a game. FourChords’ objective is to make it easy to pick up a guitar and play and sing with your friends. Beginners get an early taste of the feeling of accompanying singers; more advanced players gain new motivation to keep up with their hobby.
