OtterBox Rockets Up in Inc. 500 Ranking to No. 70

Fort Collins, COLO. – Protective case manufacturer OtterBox® landed at No. 70 on the 30th annual Inc. 500, an exclusive ranking of the nation’s fastest-growing private companies. The list represents the most comprehensive look at the most important segment of the economy—America’s independent entrepreneurs. Companies such as Microsoft, Zappos, Intuit, Jamba Juice, Zipcar, Clif Bar, Vizio, Oracle and many other well-known names gained early exposure as members of the Inc. 500.

“We’re honored to be ranked among such a successful group of companies,” said OtterBox Founder and CEO Curt Richardson. “We owe our growth to careful planning, strategic systems, strong partnerships and our dynamic group of employees.”

The 2011 Inc. 500 includes smaller but much faster-growing companies than last year. Aggregate revenue is $10.5 billion, with a median three-year growth of 1,275 percent. The companies on this year’s list employ more than 46,000 people and generated more than 35,000 jobs over the past three years.

OtterBox breaks the ranking’s smaller-company trend, having grown 3,179 percent over the last three years and currently employing more than 330 people. The 2011 Inc. 500 is ranked according to percentage revenue growth when comparing 2007 to 2010. To qualify, companies must have been founded and generating revenue by March 31, 2007. Additionally, they had to be U.S.-based, privately held, for profit and independent—not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies—as of December 31, 2010.

Last year, OtterBox was honored on the  Inc. 500 list as No. 395. Complete results of the Inc. 500 from 2010, including company profiles and an interactive database that can be sorted by industry, region and other criteria, can be found on Inc.com/500.
