FREMANTLEMEDIA ENTERPRISES APPOINTS DIRECTOR OF SALES, ASIA

March 8, 2010: FremantleMedia Enterprises (FME) announced today the appointment of Haryaty Abdul Rahman to the newly-created post of Director of Sales, Asia. Rahman will be based in Singapore and reporting to recently promoted Ganesh Rajaram, Senior Vice President, International Distribution and Home Entertainment, Asia.

Rahman joins the company immediately and will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the distribution and home entertainment businesses in select markets in Asia.

Rajaram commented: “Haryaty is the perfect addition to my team to explore new opportunities for growth both with the bigger broadcasters in major territories all the way through to the smaller companies in developing markets. Through previous roles she has developed a very acute understanding of the broadcast environment in the region and I am confident that she will bring a great amount of expertise and knowledge to this role.”

Prior to FME, Rahman was Senior Manager with the Media Development Authority (MDA) in Singapore, where she played a key role in exposing local producers to the international market by initiating projects for collaboration through the MDA’s various funding initiatives. Before this Haryaty was a Senior Programming Manager for telco giant Singtel’s MIO TV platform, gaining first-hand experience working on IPTV.

However, it was in her role as Senior Programming Manager at Channel News Asia (CNA), the definitive Asian news channel, where Haryaty developed and honed her excellent relationships and pedigree in the television business. She successfully sold many of the locally produced CNA programmes into the international market, formed excellent relationships with European buyers and made substantial inroads into the Middle East and European markets.

FME is the brand extension arm of FremantleMedia, offering a one-stop-shop for all licensing, distribution and home entertainment. In Asia Pacific, headed up by regional CEO Jon Penn, key brands include Merlin, American Idol, Project Runway and lifestyle properties Jamie Oliver and Martha Stewart.
