The Art of Living Foundation Launches the Industry’s First Happiness Apps Challenge
Washington, D.C. (Nov. 13, 2014) Advancing its mission of increasing happiness in the world, The Art of Living Foundation—an educational and humanitarian nonprofit—has launched the industry’s first Happiness Apps Challenge. The challenge is open individuals, teams and organizations all over the world. They have until Dec. 24 to enter their submissions. A video was created to explain the challenge and inspire potential participants.
This unique initiative invites the best minds in technology and design to create apps that will make people happier. The global app building challenge welcomes developers, designers and entrepreneurs to step forward and use the power of technology to build products that strive to solve the some of the world’s pressing problems that prevent happiness.
The app submissions should focus on any of these themes, or a combination thereof:
- spreading and increasing happiness,
- increasing work productivity through happiness,
- and reducing stress & depression.
Participants have the choice to create a mobile application (iOS or Android) or a web application, or a social application. Submissions are open until Dec. 24, when public voting will commence. The Happiness App Challenge Awards Ceremony will be held on Jan. 16, 2015. Prizes offered include $20,000 to the overall winner, $10,000 to the Runner Up, $10,000 to the Most Impactful App, and $10,000 to the Audience Choice. A distinguished panel of judges—including experts from the fields of happiness research, technology innovation and social entrepreneurship—will review the submissions.
