Digital Systems Press Book -Trends in Tactical Networking – Now Available on Kindle

ITHACA, NY — Jan 30, 2012 / (http://www.myprgenie.com) — The second book published by Digital Systems Press — Trends in Tactical Networking —  is now available on Kindle. When it was first released last October, the book shot to the #1 spot in two of Amazon’s categories: Computer Networking and Computer Networks, Protocols & APIs. In that same time period, the b ook reached #760 ranking overall. It was also further recognized by USA Book News when it was named as their Best Book Awards finalist for 2011 in the category of Science: General.

The book, edited by R.S. Ramanujan and J.A.K. Baker, covers the importance of tactical IP networks, which form a key component of the Global Information Grid (GIG), supporting users and platforms in tactical operations. A secure, efficient, and robust tactical network is critical for assured mission operations that are increasingly evolving towards a network-centric paradigm. Network-centric mission operations will rely on the capability of tactical IP networks within the GIG to provide anytime, anywhere network access and connectivity for users and platforms.

However, significant technical challenges must be addressed before such a capability can be accomplished. This book focuses on solutions to some of the key technical issues associated with tactical network environments. The identified problems fall into three areas, i.e., mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs), network security and survivability, and network efficiency.

The editors have brought together the collective insight of an eclectic group of experts in tactical IP networking who have hands-on experience in the conceptualization, design, and development of innovative software products for tactical networking. The result is a book that should appeal to both researchers and practitioners in tactical networking.

This is the co-editors’ first foray together in publishing. Both Ramanujan and Baker have spent a number of years in the tactical networking arena designing systems for the private sector as well as government agencies such as the Department of Defense, Homeland Security and the FAA. For anyone looking to become proficient in this critical area of study, this is a must-read. Trends in Tactical Networking is available at Amazon and further information is available at
