SERVICE PROVIDER ISSUES TOP OF THE AGENDA FOR HGI TAIWAN FORUM
19 May, 2010 – The Home Gateway Initiative (HGI) will bring together major Taiwanese telecommunications providers during the HGI Taiwan Forum held on Tuesday, June 15, during HGI’s second quarterly meeting of 2010 being held in Taipei, Taiwan.
The HGI Taiwan Forum, co-sponsored by the Committee of Communications Industry Development (CoCID) of the Ministry of Economic Affairs in Taiwan, will provide an opportunity for HGI to discuss particular topics of concern to Taiwanese service providers alongside its 2010 work programme.
HGI is currently addressing a range of topics from digital home convergence to software modularity, energy efficiency, and home gateway testing, which will support a richer experience for broadband consumers.
Duncan Bees, HGI’s Chief Technology and Business Officer, commented: “By bringing together broadband service providers and vendors of digital home equipment from around the globe, HGI is able to forge a consensus on service and equipment requirements.”
“I would like to thank CoCID for its assistance in putting this exciting event together, and also thanks D-Link Corporation, a major HGI vendor of broadband equipment for the home, for valuable assistance in making this event happen.”
Makou Chen, Consultant for CoCID commented: “CoCID is very happy to assist HGI in putting this world-class event in place. We expect participating companies to benefit through the exchange of insight about broadband deployment issues that HGI provides. We invite the full range of Taiwan service providers and vendors to attend the event.”
John Lee, Chairman of D-Link Corporation, said: “The HGI advanced feature requirements reflect the needs of our telecommunications partners. We welcome the HGI Taiwan Forum in Taipei and we anticipate that the topics to be discussed will have great resonance for the Taiwan broadband market.”
Corrado Rocca, HGI’s Marketing Committee Chairman, added: “The HGI Taiwan Forum, which builds on recent HGI events in Kobe, Hanoi, and Shanghai, will be a great opportunity to continue the already deep HGI engagement with Asian-Pacific requirements, with a focus this time on requirements in the very dynamic market of Taiwan. In this event, and during our full meeting from June 15-18, HGI is happy to host service provides and vendors from this region that have not yet joined HGI.”
Founded in 2004, HGI is the world’s leading member-led organisation devoted to translating broadband service providers’ service plans into published technology requirements for home enablers.
