NordVPN Adapts Its Android App for China
August 28, 2017. China has started a war on VPNs, but NordVPN is entering this market with a specifically adapted mobile app for Android, since the company says everyone has a right to borderless Internet. According to Statista, around 650 million people in China are using smartphones, and almost 80% of devices are running Android OS. Most users are only able to access censored, “government approved” content, so providing the means to get around such restrictions ensures freedom of choice and speech.
“NordVPN believes that online privacy protection, as well as access to the world wide web, should be available to everyone with a computer or smart mobile device. NordVPN stands for borderless and free Internet, and hopes to help Chinese users take advantage of the unrestricted global web with our updated Android app, “said Marty P. Kamden, CMO of NordVPN.
A VPN Service encrypts all the traffic flow between the Internet and a user’s device. Further, it prevents tracking software and governments from monitoring user’s Internet activity and helps hide their IP address. Most importantly, in China case, a VPN helps to bypass geo-blocks and to go online with no restrictions. Google, Facebook, Twitter and other sites currently blocked in China can be accessed by using a VPN.
Quick change between servers
The app can quickly connect a user to the desired destination by simply clicking on the country name, as it automatically selects the fastest server available. For those who like to tinker with custom server options, a detailed list is available with load and distance information – change between them with a simple click.
