FPC Launches Touch Fingerprint Sensors Under Glass
GOTHENBURG, Sweden, Sept. 3, 2015 /PRNewswire/ — Fingerprint Cards (FPC) launches new touch fingerprint sensors in the series FPC OneTouch®. The new sensors can be mounted under a sheet of glass or ceramics.
Complementing its broad portfolio of touch fingerprint sensors for smartphones and other mobile devices that can be implemented as a front mounted home button, a side button or a backside button, FPC introduces the FPC OneTouch® FPC1200 series of touch fingerprint sensors.
The FPC1200 series is FPC’s first offering in enabling touch fingerprint sensors to be mounted under a sheet of glass or ceramics. The FPC1200 series brings improved look and feel as well as new industrial design options.
The first touch fingerprint sensors in the FPC1200 product series will be covered by zirconia, a high glossy ceramic with durable surface, mass producible in multi-colours and form-factors, supporting the latest design trends.
The first sensors in the FPC1200 series have already passed extensive test and verification and are planned to be ready for mass production during Q3 2015. The first commercial devices integrating FPC1200 touch fingerprint sensors are expected in the coming months.
Jorgen Lantto, President and CEO of FPC, comments: “With the FPC1200 series we extend our technology leadership for touch fingerprint sensors into new frontiers. Enabling our touch fingerprint sensors to be mounted under a sheet of glass or ceramics enhances the industrial design options for our sensors. Based on the leading market position we have established with our existing product portfolio we already know that our customers are excited about our new product line. We are looking forward to enabling new compelling and innovative industrial designs embedding our FPC1200 touch fingerprint sensors”.
