Architecture Technology Corp (ATCorp) Honored with ATCA’s 2014 Charles E. Varnell Memorial Award for Small Business

Eden Praire, MN — Sep 24, 2014 / (http://www.myprgenie.com) — – Architecture Technology Corp (ATCorp) will be awarded the Air Traffic Control Association’s (ATCA) 2014 Charles E. Varnell Memorial Award for Small Business on September 29th at ATCA’s 59th annual conference.  The Varnell Memorial award is presented annually to a small business for outstanding achievement or contribution, which has added to the quality, safety or efficiency of air traffic control.

ATCorp substantially contributed to the DOT/FAA’s mission by developing the Concept of Operations, Deficiency Analysis, Enterprise Architecture, and Operational Requirements for the Terminal Radar Approach Control (TRACON) Evolution Project, a project designed to update the airspace environment around the nation’s airports in support of the agency’s NextGen mid-term objectives.

The TRACON Evolution Project, recently renamed Terminal Work Package 1, is being developed as a portfolio of improvements to existing systems, making it unique within the agency and requiring the development of unique processes. The portfolio approach developed is anticipated to become the norm for realizing the implementation of NextGen – the agency’s flagship development initiative. The processes implemented by ATCorp can be applied to other NextGen projects.

Dr. Ken Thurber, President and Founder of ATCorp, says “We are truly honored to be selected for this award and receive recognition from our industry association. And, we are especially proud that our expertise in systems engineering tools and processes contributed to the success of this project and may further support critical NextGen programs.”

ATCorp’s Systems Engineering 2025 team (SE2025), includes two former ATCA Charles E. Varnell Memorial Award winners; CSSI (2005 and 2006), and Mosaic ATM (2013). Receiving such a prestigious award, by multiple small businesses on the ATCorp SE2025 team, highlights the breadth and depth of the Team’s contribution to advancing the delivery of NextGen capabilities and benefits.
