AccuWeather.com Partners with Verve Wireless, Inc. to Create Industry Leading Mobile Weather Solution

STATE COLLEGE, PA and ENCINITAS, CA – February 24, 2009 — AccuWeather.com, the World’s Weather Authority®, today announced a joint partnership with Verve Wireless, the leading provider of mobile publishing technologies to local media companies. The collaboration gives Verve customers access to compelling, localized, accurate, and reliable weather information, available only from AccuWeather.com.

AccuWeather.com provides Verve with content such as current conditions and day and night forecasts, as well as weather alerts, which can be particularly important during the winter season. AccuWeather.com’s content is searchable by ZIP code or city and state and is available in English and Spanish.

“Our continuing mobile strategy is to bring the best weather forecasts to users everywhere wherever and however they want to receive it,” David Mitchell, Director of Wireless Services at AccuWeather.com said. “This partnership allows us to extend the same outstanding AccuWeather.com weather content to a growing list of over 150 local media companies across the US now served by Verve.”

Verve Wireless, Inc., and their proprietary Verve Local Content Gateway™, allows local media companies and advertisers to seamlessly extend their reach on mobile devices across all the major carriers. Verve Wireless currently works with leading local media companies from across the country including daily and weekly newspapers, and local radio and television broadcast stations.

The initial rollout will distribute weather content from AccuWeather.com to 134 newspaper and television broadcast mobile websites including properties from the New York Times Regional Group, Freedom Communications, and Media News Group.

“Everybody wants to know what the weather is going to be like and being able to easily find out by glancing at your mobile phone is great. But getting a text alert for hazardous weather on your mobile is more than convenient, it is very critical in most regions across the country,” remarked Greg Hallinan, Vice President of Marketing at Verve Wireless. “And with our partnership with AccuWeather, local media companies can provide accurate and reliable forecasts as well as critical alerts for their mobile users.”
