Port Closes on Sale of Former U.S. Naval Station Ingleside
Corpus Christi, TX – Port Corpus Christi and Oxy Ingleside Energy Center, LLC finalized the closing on the sale of the larger portion of former U.S. Naval Station Ingleside (NSI) on Thursday, November 8, 2012.
The purchase price of $82.1 million included 815 acres, the 1,100-foot double deck concrete “Alpha” pier and over 2,000 feet of wharf frontage adjacent to a deep water turning basin. In addition, this Maritime Property sale includes most of the industrial support facilities at the base, plus 435 acres of “greenfield” property next to it.
“We are pleased the sale of NSI to Oxy Ingleside Energy Center was finalized. The Port Commission and staff look forward to a great future working together to better the Coastal Bend Region.” said Mike Carrell, Chairman, Port Commission.
U.S. Naval Station Ingleside was designated for closure under the Base Realignment and Closure Act of 2005, which resulted in the departure of the Navy by April 30, 2010. On that date, ownership of the base reverted to the Port of Corpus Christi Authority.
