G4S Technology LLC is helping to improve the future of Southwest Virginia
OMAHA, Neb., (October 15, 2012) – G4S Technology LLC (formerly Adesta) a systems integrator and project management company for electronic security systems and communication networks, has been awarded a contract with the Virginia Coalfield Coalition to provide fiber optic expansion and cellular communications towers to help advance wireless communications in Southwest Virginia.
G4S Technology has begun a phased-roll out of the project providing engineering, furnishing, and installation services. Phase I will consist of the build-out of 12 fiber laterals to existing towers. Phase II will consist of erecting 11 build-to-suit towers and fiber laterals with an option for a third phase that would consist of 6 more towers in 2013-2014.
The project is being funded by grants from the Virginia Tobacco Indemnification and Community Revitalization Commission, and direct investment from private enterprise partners.
The Virginia Coalfield Coalition (VCC) is a non-stock, non-profit Virginia Corporation organized as a regional economic development partnership of the Cumberland Plateau Planning District Commission and the LENOWISCO Planning District Commission. The VCC addresses the seven-county region of Lee, Wise, Scott, Buchanan, Dickenson, Russell and Tazewell counties, and the city of Norton.

In addition to G4S, the VCC is partnering with Bristol Virginia Utilities and Scott County Telephone to operate the network.
