Nufront Licenses Vivante Corporation’s Dynamic GUI Composition Engine
SUNNYVALE, Calif., Sept. 2, 2011 /PRNewswire-Asia/ — Vivante Corporation, a leading supplier of graphics and visualization technologies for mobile and consumer entertainment applications, announced today that Nufront, a leading Chinese high-tech company, has licensed its market leading display and pixel composition GUI engine. Nufront will integrate this key piece of visual rendering IP into its next generation SoCs powering mobile, embedded, and consumer electronic platforms, including smartphones and multimedia tablets.
The composition and GUI engine is a super-fast 2D and pixel processing accelerator that scales, animates, layers, filters, processes, and combines multiple input sources (3D, 2D, 1080p Video) to compose for final viewing. The powerful GUI composition engine offloads the CPU and 3D engine from graphics composition and lowers system power by load-balancing graphics resources and enhancing visual effects using specialized, low power hardware. Systems become more responsive, fluid, and engaging.
“When selecting a key piece of graphics technology to integrate in our products, one area we analyze is how it benefits the user experience. Since market and user impression is one of the fundamental factors in producing a successful product, we decided on the Vivante composition engine for a few reasons. It is an industry proven GUI engine that captures the consumer’s attention due to its optimized hardware that brings together the best composition layering that you see in the latest Android platforms. The solution also enables us to introduce new and creative effects on our platforms, all while lowering our power envelope due to the energy efficient GUI composer,” says Wei Yu, general manager, Nufront System Chip Division.
Vivante CEO Wei-Jin Dai says, “We are pleased to partner with a leading innovator and successful company like Nufront to put our IP into their upcoming SoC products. With their expertise in wireless connected devices and multimedia processing, it was a natural fit to include our composition engine in their next generation consumer products. The combination of Nufront’s expertise in connectivity and our GUI rendering will bring a new level of smart, connected devices with the best balance of performance, visual quality, power savings, and all-day battery life.”
