Watertown, CT – Valerie Maguire of Siemon was appointed Treasurer of the IEEE 802.3 CSMA/CD (Carrier Sense Multiple Access with Collision Detection) Working Group after elections were held during the Group’s recent plenary meeting. IEEE 802.3 develops Ethernet operation standards for selected data rates of 1Mbps to 100Gbps transmitting over twisted-pair, optical fiber, and coaxial cabling. Maguire has been serving as the TIA TR-42 appointed liaison to IEEE 802.3 since 2003.

In addition to her efforts within IEEE 802.3, Maguire is the former 2-term Chair and current Vice Chair of the TIA TR-42.7 Copper Cabling Subcommittee and current Vice Chair of the TIA TR-42 Telecommunications Cabling Systems Engineering Committee.
