PBS is “Challenger” in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for structured Archive Data and System Decommissionings

(PresseBox) For the second time in a row, PBS Software has been included in Gartner’s “Magic Quadrant for Structured Data Archiving and Application Retirement”. This year the evaluation was even better than the last time. PBS was meanwhile able to climb from leading the niche players to become a “Challenger”. Gartner creates the report, which is published on a yearly basis, based on an extensive catalog of criteria and independent customer surveys.

Gartner expects an average yearly growth rate (CAGR) within the area of archiving of structured data and application retirement of 10 percent. Gartner’s analysts estimate that already 75 percent of applications for archiving structured data will support Big Data analyses by 2016.

The PBS solutions for archiving and nearline storage are extremely sophisticated and rich in functionality thanks to many years’ development and their SAP focus. Furthermore, they are also practice-oriented and user-friendly according to Gartner. The support was also praised – both the support provided by PBS, as well as by the PBS partners.

“We are proud of our achievements and those of our partners and are extremely happy to receive this recognition by the Gartner analysts”, said managing director, Günther Reichling. “Our products are continuously being further developed and also have a promising future running on the SAP HANA in-memory platform. Consistent Information Lifecycle Management with regular data archiving is of particular importance in the case of migration to Business Suite HANA in order to keep costs within scope.“
