Diving into a Digital World at Alltech’s 2012 Symposium

[Lexington, KENTUCKY] – Is an IT department relevant in today’s business world? What is cloud computing and how can it be implemented in business? If technology doubles every 18 months according to Moore’s law, how can businesses keep pace? Alltech’s 28th Annual International Symposium May 20 – 23 in Lexington, Kentucky, will provide insights on how to maximize digital efforts in the ever-changing world.

“With the IT session we want to educate the business community on the future opportunities of technologies. This year’s IT session is relevant to those in the agriculture industry, technology industry and especially to those in the business industry who want to use digital technology to advance their business,” said Tim Arthur, Alltech’s chief information officer and global director of their management information system.

IT focused session topics will include:

  • Anytime, Anywhere: Connecting globally
  • How Keeneland drives their business using technology
  • Mobile Security: The Human Factor
  • What’s in the classroom today will be in your boardroom tomorrow

The 2012 Symposium will be the forum for more than 100 presentations by industry experts. Featured experts in the IT session will include AT&T Mobility’s executive director, Andrew Hebert; Brad Lovell, vice president and chief information officer for Keeneland; Roger Parks, vice president and CIO of J.R. Simplot Co.; associate commissioner of the Kentucky Department of Education, David Couch; Michael Macrie, vice president of information technology at Land O’Lakes; Efrem Stringfellow, Microsoft’s central region vice president; and Southern States’ vice president of information systems, Karen Thomas. Christopher Burgess, the CIA’s distinguished medal award winner, will also be presenting and, following his presentation, will be available for a book signing.

Looking to 2050’s burgeoning population, Alltech’s 2012 Symposium will focus on ideas for better use of resources, improved business practices and natural nutritional solutions. New in 2012, breakout sessions will include legal, marketing, information technology and designer food in addition to the popular aquaculture, beef, dairy, equine, poultry, pig, pet and regulatory-focused offerings.
