BROADBAND WORLD FORUM’S EXECUTIVE INSTITUTE LEADERSHIP SUMMIT TO ADDRESS CHALLENGES OF BROADBAND DELIVERY

18 August 2011 – The Broadband World Forum 2011 today announces that its invitation-only Executive Institute Leadership Summit will focus on how operators can collaborate with each other to reduce costs and deliver fixed broadband regeneration.

The Summit, which takes place at the CNIT La Defense, Paris on the second day (28 September) of the Broadband World Forum 2011, will see a private gathering of senior-level executives from key operators and vendors address how the industry can collaborate to share the significant costs of deploying next generation broadband infrastructure.

The Summit is exclusively open to Executive level personnel, and held to Chatham House rules, providing a unique platform for Executives to talk openly and frankly about the broadband industry and its most critical issues.

This year Deutsche Telekom will be hosting the Summit with Olivier Baujard, CTO of the Deutsche Telekom Group, taking the Summit Chair. He says: “Deutsche Telekom is proud to be hosting the Executive Institute Leadership Summit. The Summit has established a unique reputation for intimate and insightful executive level discussion on the major issues in broadband. As Chair of the 2011 Summit, I am honoured to be able to facilitate the debate on infrastructure sharing models for fixed broadband, and look forward to a constructive outcome.”

The morning session will see Matthias Linder, CTO at Magyar Telekom provide a keynote speech on delivering broadband service excellence through partnerships, and Rob Gallagher, Principal Analyst at Broadband Informa Telecoms & Media, review the intricacies of different models for network collaboration.

Following a private networking lunch, the afternoon session compares and contrasts several successful models for collaboration. These include the Dutch model for broadband development, delivered by Jan Davids, Chairman of the Board at FttH Platform Netherlands and Director Corporate & Business Development, Reggefiber; the Danish model from Anders B. Christjansen, CEO of waoo!; and network reciprocal access in Norway, from Toril Nag, Executive VP Telecom at Lyse Energi, and Chairman of the Board at Altibox.

Now in its 11th year, Broadband World Forum 2011 has long been established as the place to meet and discuss the commercial and technical opportunities, developments and issues surrounding broadband. Its four streams – Broadband Business Strategy, Broadband Service Deployment, Network Evolution, and Access Evolution – which include 12 separate tracks, will run across the three days.
