Calix Wins Fixed Broadband Innovation of the Year at Telecom Asia Readers’ Choice and Innovation Awards
SINGAPORE – December 1, 2016 – Calix, Inc. (NYSE: CALX), the world leader in subscriber driven access, was presented with the ‘Fixed Broadband Innovation of the Year’ award for System Level Vectoring solutions on the E7-2 Modular Access System last night at the Telecom Asia Readers’ Choice and Innovation Awards Gala Dinner in Singapore. The Readers’ Choice and Innovation Awards, now in their ninth year, celebrate technology innovations and accomplishments of the most prominent telecom vendors operating in Asia Pacific. In addition to the E7-2 honor, the revolutionary, always-on Calix AXOS platform was also a finalist in Telecom Asia’s ‘Software Defined Network (SDN) Innovation of the Year’ category.
The Calix E7-2 has been transforming service provider networks since its introduction to the market in 2010. With more than 100,000 systems deployed, the E7-2 has delivered the benefits of a “pay-as-you-succeed” architecture to nearly 1000 service providers globally, allowing them the flexibility to scale and add new services as their business needs evolve. Innovative in both fiber and copper technologies, VDSL2 system level vectoring on the E7-2 not only gives service providers the tools to get the most out of their outside plant investments but also dramatically improves the subscriber experience. Uniquely capable of supporting up to 96 ports of system level vectoring without requiring any additional hardware, the E7-2 can also scale up to an industry-leading 384 vectored subscriber ports.
“Whether served by copper or fiber technology, device-enabled subscribers the world over are driving the industry to develop new technologies to bring them an unmatched subscriber experience,” said Joseph Haddad, area vice president, international markets at Calix. “System level vectoring enables this experience by delivering elevated service performance over existing copper infrastructure and allowing our E7-2 customers to differentiate within their markets. With its modular architecture and flexibility to support a wide variety of network technologies from a single rack unit, the E7-2 delivers on the spirit of the Telecom Asia Readers’ Choice and Innovation Awards by providing an innovative and powerful option for network transformation.”
The Telecom Asia Readers’ Choice and Innovation Awards assess each entry against general criteria including overall quality of innovation and contribution to technology advancement; vision and industry leadership; market acceptance, including market share growth; and new customer acquisition and performance over the 12 months prior to August 1, 2016 to determine their shortlist of 95 solutions from 52 companies across 21 different categories. The shortlist was announced on September 27 and online readers of Telecom Asia voted over the following two weeks to determine the 2016 winners.
