NAID-ANZ is official partner of Privacy Awareness Week

PHOENIX, ARIZONA – Privacy Awareness Week (PAW) is an initiative of the Asia Pacific Privacy Authorities forum (APPA), with multiple Pacific Rim countries participating. Australia and New Zealand have been strong proponents of the initiative for many years. The National Association for Information Destruction’s Australia and New Zealand chapter (NAID-ANZ) has partnered with PAW to increase awareness of privacy issues in the region.

“Visibly aligning ourselves with such important public awareness campaigns is important,” said NAID-ANZ Chair Paul Hurst. “It shows members, consumers and policymakers that we are part of the information protection community and that we are committed to education.”

As a PAW partner, NAID-ANZ will promote the event through its social media outlets and encourage member companies to increase awareness among their clients. According to NAID CEO Bob Johnson, the association is exploring opportunities to support the PAW initiatives with a range of APPA members, including Hong Kong, Singapore and Japan.

“Involvement in the regional initiatives around the world is a benefit to our growing membership there and increases NAID’s credibility everywhere,” said Johnson.

At this point in time, New Zealand has no corresponding partnership or outreach program related to PAW.
