Genesis Technical Systems mBond™ Passes Live UK Trial with Flying Colours

Coventry, UK – 05 February 2015 – Genesis Technical Systems has today announced that its revolutionary copper bonding solution mBond™ has delivered significant increase in bandwidth in a trial on the live network with UK-based enterprise broadband service provider WarwickNet. The six month trial saw mBond™ dramatically enhance upload and download speeds for the WarwickNet customer.

WarwickNet is using mBond™ to enhance its existing network and deliver higher bandwidth enabling the trial customer to boost their productivity, saving them time and money.

Prior to becoming a WarwickNet customer, electronics subcontract manufacturing company, SMT Developments was achieving download speeds of between 0.5 Mb/s and 6 Mb/s on a single pair. Today, SMT is achieving download speeds of 94 Mb/s and upload speeds of 84 Mb/s with WarwickNet and Genesis’s mBond installed in the cabinet and customer premise.  The current service is capped at 100 Mb/s but higher downstream bandwidths could be achieved with no cap in place.

John Rowley, Operations Director, SMT Developments, said: “We were very keen to be involved in the trials with WarwickNet and Genesis. The results have been excellent and the improved broadband has helped boost our productivity.”

mBond™ is a unique bonding solution that provides unmatched value for fixed and mobile networks by enabling operators to increase their copper bandwidth by up to a factor of ten. The technology is an extremely cost-effective alternative to fibre and microwave, enabling telecommunications operators to realise a far quicker and improved return on their investment.

Providing enterprise broadband is a new market application for mBond, which was initially developed to deliver macrocell backhaul for mobile operators.

Talking about the technology, Ben King, CEO, WarwickNet, said: “We are very pleased with the results that we have achieved with mBond™ from Genesis. It will allow us to offer higher bandwidth services to our customers using the infrastructure that we already have in place and we look forward to developing this further in the future.”

mBond™ has been tested globally with a variety of different operators and service providers for both mobile and fixed networks. Similar results were also demonstrated in Asia Pacific lab trials, showing continued success for the solution and its capabilities.

“Operators have been extremely impressed by the performance of mBond™ product trials in recent months,” said Stephen Cooke, President and CTO, Genesis Technical Systems. “The feedback that we have received has been tremendous and the results speak for themselves: Achieving these speeds over existing copper infrastructure is a revolutionary solution for operators.”
