ZALORA Partners With Sephora Bringing The Beauty Retailer Online In Southeast Asia
Singapore, Monday, April 14th, 2014 – ZALORA and Sephora have announced a partnership that will see the popular international beauty retailer distribute online in Southeast Asia through ZALORA. Launching in Singapore and Malaysia, this will be the first time Sephora will be available for customers to purchase online in the Southeast Asia region, with plans to expand to Thailand in mid-2014.
The addition of Sephora comes as ZALORA continues to build on its already extensive offering of international fashion and beauty brands alongside its wide assortment of local labels. ZALORA’s strong foothold in the region’s fashion and beauty e-commerce market means Sephora will launch to an already highly established customer base who are looking to purchase fashion and beauty items online.
Harry Markl, regional managing director of ZALORA said, “ZALORA has over 15 millionvisits to its sites monthly. In terms of delivery times, user convenience and experience and brand assortment we are the strongest fashion e-commerce site in the region. Having such a well-loved and aspirational brand such as Sephora come on board is a great example of how traditional retailers can partner with e-commerce to not only introduce their brand into new markets, but to improve the overall customer experience by seamlessly fusing online and offline shopping.”
Markl went on to add that eventually Sephora’s large range of exclusive and selective brands will be available on ZALORA. “By mid-year, Zalora’s entire beauty category will come under a Sephora umbrella – meaning the assortment of beauty brands available on Zalora will be highly similar to what a customer would find in a regular Sephora store.”
Drina Chee, Regional Marketing Director at Sephora Asia Pte Ltd commented, “Given Zalora’s massive reach and expertise when it comes to fashion and beauty e-commerce, we felt they were the right partner to introduce Sephora to online shoppers in Southeast Asia. With so many people connected to the internet in this part of the world, it makes sense to bring Sephora online here.”
While Sephora will launch on ZALORA in Singapore and Malaysia first, there are plans to eventually expand to other ZALORA markets in Asia Pacific within 2014. Sephora will have its own shop-in-shop on the ZALORA site. With Zalora’s 1 – 3 day delivery time, free delivery with every purchase over a certain spend, free returns, and multiple payment methods including cash on delivery, customers will be able to get their Sephora fix any time of day, no matter where they are.
