IBC 2013 – At the edge of innovation, Sagemcom, one of the worldwide leaderS in broadband technology, demonstrates live 4K TV and multi-device content redistribution
Sagemcom paves the way to tomorrow’s television, and showcases during IBC in Amsterdam Ultra-HD Television, advanced video content redistribution and next-generation wireless transmission. These innovations are combined to enable the operators to deliver a performing and secure multi-screen multi-device superior viewing experience to their subscribers.
Sagemcom demonstrates, at IBC, live Ultra High Definition Television, on a platform able to deliver extremely sharp pictures and smooth motion, with a resolution up to four times higher than standard High Definition. The platform supports High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC), thus allowing operators to optimize the bandwidth required to broadcast their content.
Sagemcom also showcases next-generation video gateways, acting as video server redistributing High Definition content within the home, on any connected device, such as client STBs, tablets or smartphones – without any compromise on the quality of the viewing experience, thanks to a multi HD transcoder embedded in the digital core chipset of the product.
The platform, powered by an ARM chipset and running a software suite developed by Sagemcom, will be deployed before year-end, and will deliver a highly secured content redistribution, thanks to the integration of a complete CAS-to-DRM management solution, granting an optimal protection of content owners’ assets.
Sagemcom relies on its proven expertise on Wi-Fi, including latest 802.11ac, to deploy the latter in the coming weeks on its products. The next-generation STBs embed this wireless solution, in dual concurrent configuration, that allows the operators to propose a smooth, reliable, performing and wireless High Definition TV distribution at home.
Sagemcom, leader on the connected home market, shows its innovative abilities and one of its trademark: bring on time integrated solutions addressing its consumers’ needs.
According to Olivier Taravel, Sagemcom’s Deputy Chief Executive Officer in charge of Digital Set-Top Box Unit, “Sagemcom proves its capacities to develop, integrate and deliver to the operators the latest innovations that will outline the television of tomorrow”.
