Informa strengthens Broadband & TV Research team with appointment of Paul Jackson

London, UK – March 14, 2013 – Informa Telecoms & Media is delighted to announce that Paul Jackson, one of the most respected analysts in the consumer technology market, has joined the company as a principal analyst covering media platforms and ecosystems.

“Paul has a well-deserved reputation as an industry thought leader, having spent nearly 20 years as an analyst, consultant and executive in the technology market,” said Rob Gallagher, Head of Broadband & TV Research for Informa Telecoms & Media.

Jackson has worked extensively with market-leading consumer technology companies across Europe and the US, helping them to secure their place in the rapidly converging media and consumer electronics markets. He has provided research and consultancy on topics as diverse as harnessing social media for product development, the role of new devices in the digital home and cloud strategies for consumer electronics firms.

“Both media and consumer technology firms need to recognize that their offerings are much more compelling when offered as part of an easy-to-use ecosystem. Separately, best content or best devices rarely win the day,” said Gallagher. “Paul’s considerable experience of working for and advising major consumer technology firms means he is perfectly placed to help our clients to understand, and succeed in, this highly competitive environment.”

“I am delighted to be joining Informa, especially at such an exciting time for the media and consumer electronics industries,” said Paul Jackson. “The arrival of new content and device ecosystems provides both opportunities and challenges for industry incumbents and wannabes, from operators and studios to FMCG brands and real-world retailers.

“I look forward to providing strategic and actionable advice to our clients, to help them go the way of Apple and Amazon, rather than Kodak and Woolworths.”

Prior to joining Informa, Jackson ran his own consumer technology consultancy. Previously, he held senior market intelligence and managerial roles at an array of technology businesses, including Microsoft, Forrester Research and Deloitte Consulting.
