Ovum strengthens Consumer Technology Research team with appointment of Ronan de Renesse
London, UK – October 9, 2014 – Ovum is delighted to announce that Ronan de Renesse, one of the most respected analysts in the mobile market, has joined the company as leader of its Consumer Technology research and consultancy practice.
“Ronan has a deep understanding of the central importance of connected devices and digital platforms to the future of telecoms, media, and IT, having charted their growing influence as both a senior analyst and academic,” says Rob Gallagher, Ovum’s Director of Media, Entertainment and Consumer Research. “The team and I are very much looking forward to working with him to take our Consumer Technology research and advisory services to the next level in this newly created role.”
Before joining Ovum, Ronan was leading mobile devices and digital economy research at Analysys Mason for two and half years, following five years at IHS Screen Digest as the Head of Mobile covering mobile media and technologies. As Lead Analyst for Ovum, Ronan will be responsible for managing and growing the company’s growing consumer technology research team, setting the consumer technology research agenda, and delivering bespoke advice to Ovum’s extensive client base.
“Telecoms, media, and technology industries are undergoing a major transformation driven by consumers who now have more influence and choice than ever before, to the point where they can buy products before they are fully designed, via crowd-funding services like Kickstarter,” says de Renesse.
“Ovum’s deep knowledge and understanding of consumer trends and technology helps stakeholders prepare, track, and respond adequately to the frequent disruptions which characterize this market today and tomorrow.”
Before becoming an industry analyst, Ronan was an academic researcher at the Centre for Telecommunications Research at King’s College London. He had numerous articles published in international technology journals and also gave various presentations at high-profile conferences. Ronan holds a PhD in Telecommunications from King’s College London.
