Samsung Releases Large Screen Monitor Features World Class Ultra-Slim Bezel

Seoul, Korea – March 26, 2009 – Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., today announced the release of the 460UTn, a large screen monitor that employs both a world-class ultra-slim bezel as well as Samsung’s unique ID 2 solution, enhancing the appearance and convenience of large video wall installations.

The 460UTn’s left bezel is only 4.3mm and the right bezel is 2.4mm thick. By adopting an ultra-slim bezel, the space between each monitor screens is a mere 7.3mm, minimizing the disconnection among the screens and ensuring images look natural. The 460UTn also features the embedded Samsung ID 2 solution, which enables smooth transitions between screens, resulting in a more natural look and feel of videos. The product, which received a CES 2009 Innovation Award, includes a stand that allows the user to arrange the video wall in different ways.

The Samsung ID 1 featured quick set-up functionality for video walls of various forms. The Samsung ID 2 solution builds on this functionality by allowing the installer to tilt the screens outwards up to 40 degrees. When several monitors are connected, both the front and rear can be tilted, allowing consumers to customize the installation of the 460UTn in a way that is optimal for its use.

The 460UTn can be installed based on the lines in a wall, even when the wall has a rounded surface. It allows the user to break away from the traditional flat, simple installation method and create a digital folding-screen shape, thereby diversifying the shape of the video wall.

The 460UTn also supports the Samsung UD solution that enables real-time control of up to 250 monitors. Posts can be updated in real time through the central server control, which means that the information display effects can be maximized when the 460UTn is used as a billboard at a large shopping mall.

Furthermore, gigapixel-level content display can be achieved through the Samsung UD, ensuring higher screen quality on a large video wall. Screens of up to 125 PCs that are connected to the same network and real-time video screens such as cameras, camcorders and web cameras can be displayed together, creating an effective use at exhibitions, events, and conference rooms.

“The 460UTn goes exceeds technologies offered by other B2B products and is unique in its design,” said Jaeyoung Lew, vice president of Visual Display at Samsung Electronics. “Our expansion in the B2B market will be powered by the development of technologies that meet the needs of B2B consumers while possessing practical design. The ID 2 is a perfect example of this combination.”
