Celluphone Acquires Rights to Mobile Line Communications’ Activation Business
Los Angeles, CA (MMD Newswire) May 18, 2010 – Celluphone
announced today that it has acquired rights to Mobile Line
Communications’ master agent and activation business. This
acquisition brings together two of the largest wireless retail
distribution networks in California, and adds to Celluphone’s
position as the largest master agent in the western United
States in addition to its strong position throughout the country.
Mobile Line has been in the master agent business in California
since 1991, and currently supports more than 150 active retail
locations. The sale will allow Mobile Line to focus its operations
and experience on its accessories and product distribution
business.
During the last 26 years, Celluphone has operated as a Master
Agent for Verizon Wireless and its predecessors, and built a
reputation of supporting high-quality retailers with credibility and
consistency, and providing multiple levels of support. This
support includes in-field sales assistance, a broad and
competitive range of handsets and accessories, marketing and
merchandising materials, efficient systems and communication
suited for this fast-paced industry, training and a variety of other
value-added services and products. Like Celluphone, Mobile
Line focused solely on building quality Verizon Wireless points
of distribution, which makes the two companies’ dealer bases
readily compatible.
Mike Mohr, President of Celluphone, said: “We are making this
investment mainly for three reasons: First, we believe in the
present and future vitality of independent wireless retailers. The
importance of their role in the wireless industry only will grow as
the devices available on the networks get more varied and
more complicated. Second, we firmly believe that Verizon
Wireless is the best carrier by far, operating America’s most
reliable network. Third, we have always respected Dennis
Curtis and Mobile Line and the strong business they have
created. Like us, they focus on quality, making this a wonderful
and natural marriage.”
“The last 20 years supporting Verizon and our dealers has
been awesome,” said Dennis Curtis, President of Mobile Line.
“The time has come for us to focus on other opportunities
offered by this wonderful industry. There is no other organization
I would trust our dealers and friends to other than Celluphone.”
Celluphone has already begun working on transitioning Mobile
Line’s wireless retailers so that they do not experience a
disruption in their business. The transition, which involves
retailers all over California, is expected to last only a few weeks
and be invisible to consumers.
